We've made it through the dark winter nights. The sun now sets after 5pm and my daffodil plants are starting to sprout...signs that spring is coming! I talk about how awesome spring sessions are here...so much so, I even scheduled our own family photos in the spring last year. There are so many beautiful locations in the greater Seattle area for spring photos. Here are a few that I love, grouped by location.

Seattle Arboretum

Pink and white cherry blossom trees can be found at the Seattle Arboretum. Expect cherry blossoms to peak around late-March to mid-April. If cherry blossoms aren't your thing, the Arboretum also has azaleas and rhododendrons that bloom in May. The Arboretum is least busy on week-days. More info about the Arboretum here.

The Center for Urban Horticulture

The Center for Urban Horticulture in Seattle has various flowers that bloom from the spring - fall. There's a tiny garden, a forest and tree lined gravel pathways. This location is quiet on both week-days and week-ends in the spring. More info about this location here.

Juanita Bay Park

Juanita Bay Park in Kirkland has lupines scattered throughout, as well as a grassy field, a willow tree and a boardwalk. The lupines peak in May. This location is quiet on both week-days and week-ends in the spring. More photos from this location here.

McAuliffe Park

McAuliffe Park in Kirkland is a hidden gem! There's 1-2 cherry blossom trees, a barn, vintage tractors and bamboo trees. Cherry blossoms peak in April and this location is quiet year round. More photos from this location here.

Bellevue Botanical Garden

Bellevue Botanical Garden has lush greenery in the spring. There's a rock garden and layers upon layers of different types of plants. This location is quiet on both week-days and week-ends in the spring. More photos from the garden here.

Van Lierop Park

Van Lierop Park in Puyallup has a field of lupines with peak bloom in May. It's a sea of purple! New this year is a baseball field and playground next to the field. This location is quiet on week-days. See more photos here.

Book your spring photos in Seattle

Most families think of scheduling family photos in the fall and that's when the bulk of my sessions (and most other photographers sessions) are. But spring is such a gorgeous time for family photos. Bonus, it's less busy too! Swap photos of your family in front of red maple leaves with cherry blossoms. Swap photos of your kids throwing fall leaves with them twirling in a field of lupines. Swap cozy vests with flowy dresses and pastel colored tops. If there's a particular location that you'd like, let me know and I'd be happy to scout it for the best lighting and backdrops.

New this year, instead of going back and forth on dates that'll work for the both of us, I've put my spring availability in an online calendar. Choose the date that works for you and book instantly. Happy Spring! :)
